What is the biggest change you want to see?
I was delighted to feature in the Social Good Six interview series.
This is an online interview series established by Alex Swallow, in which he asks the same six questions of people around the world, all of whom are working for 'social good' in some way. I guarantee that if you have a look at the site, you'll end up browsing through the answers of many a compelling interviewee. Anyway, here's mine.
1- In no more than three sentences, please explain what you do
I am a charity sector consultant helping organisations to deliver their mission, specialising in fundraising, strategic planning, governance, and communications. Having grown up as a volunteer for various charities, moving into the sector after graduating over 20 years ago was a natural step. I advise organisations across a wide range of functions, from income generation to external affairs, from strategic development to governance.
2- Who inspires you?
I am inspired by new people all the time, but particularly anybody who has the drive and passion to make a difference in the world through their work or their volunteering. The common traits in people who inspire me are that they are very good listeners, and ask the best questions. I was particularly inspired by a man named Neil, my manager between 2000 and 2006, who displayed all of the above qualities, and more besides.
