I was pleased to attend the webinar on developing fundraising strategy today. And I was even more pleased that Fundraising Everywhere kindly offered to host it on their brilliant platform, because we were originally going to host it on my Zoom, and were pleasantly surprised by the huge interest the seminar topic generated! This saved me the stress of being on the door and worrying about tech, so thank you, Nikki, for stepping in.
It was a great line-up, which probably explained why there were so many takers for the session. My notes can all be found below.
I'm here for the session on developing charity fundraising strategy in uncertain times, with the brilliant Lizzi Hollis, Claire Routley and Martha Awojobi. Lizzi, who put the event together, is kicking things off.
1st up Dr Claire Routley spoke excellently about strategy development after a crisis.
Presenting a picture of the peppered moth, which changed colour over the decades to suit its surroundings! "In my first job, we'd put on an event and then lurch to the next one. It was messy and stressful." Now => Next => Never Normal.
Understand the environment you're operating in really well, & the forward looking part is much easier. Are you planning to be a leader or a follower? Both approaches have advantages. Or you could be on the continuum in between. Can you be a smart follower?
