
For the love of London St Pancras
I am a little bit in love. With London St Pancras Station.
A station? I hear you ask. Yeah yeah, boys and their trains, you say, dismissively. But you don't understand.
No, my love for St Pancras goes much deeper than that. It was always my favourite building in London from the outside, but then they restored and redeveloped it in 2007. Oh yes, and there's some relevance to the charity sector, which is why I'm writing this blog, so do read on and I'll explain.
Your story is about people
Do you know who this little statue is of? It's the poet John Betjeman. He led the campaign to save St Pancras from demolition in the 60s. St Pancras's history is about much more than buildings or trains (interesting though they are). Principally it's about people. Who are the key people in the development of your organisation? How do you tell their story? Don't talk about buildings too much. Talk about the people in them. Talk about your own saviours, your own John Betjemans. This is how you will connect with your audience.
Make people feel they are welcome
I love these pianos, which are now a permanent fixture in the Arcade. Commuters, tourists, and passers by stop t
