I attended this webinar, arranged by the Institute of Fundraising Supporter Experience Group, this morning. I have included the notes I took on each of the excellent speakers below:

Next up Giles Pegram: AAll charities are affected. When philanthropic muscles are stretched, they become stronger. In a time of crisis, those who have the ability to do so want to support those who don't. It's the essence of charity. Many will give extra.
"Be careful with wording. Acknowledge the difficulties many are facing. Be transparent about challenges. Include all your trustees and their networks. If my favourite small charity went bust and hadn't engaged me, I'd be livid."
"As a fundraiser, you have a duty to ask... We are empowering them, not twisting their arm. It's not for you to judge whether donors will want to give... you have the opportunity more than ever before to make a difference."
Next up Catherine Deakin: "The crisis has offered new opportunities to get to know our supporters better. In the first few days I had over 30 conversations with our donors. I didn't have all the answers. We've had honest conversations."
