Analysis: Status of Fundraising Report 2024
Today I attended a seminar to launch Blackbaud's Status of Fundraising Report 2024. My brief notes from the talks by Carly Ainlay, Susie Mullen and Asher Ozdemir-Simpson (with some screengrabs that can be enlarged) are below, but you can download the full report here.
Focus on Canada and UK in particular – looking through findings.
1500 responses to survey – not just Blackbaud customers, now in 7th year in UK, 3rd year in Canada, Australia in New Zealand. 1500 is solid sample size, representative of sector as whole.
More people reported organisational growth than decline, slight uptick year on year in UK. Why growing? Number one is exceptional gifts.
Challenges: economy leading to fewer donations most commonly chosen (80%).
Grants: more nuanced picture. Number 1 income stream. Growing orgs – grants are still number 1 but others are roughly equal level – more diverse range of streams.
“Tell us where your organisation is” in terms of digital maturity, out of 10 – average response is around 5. Those with above average digital maturity are more likely to say income is growing. Below and more likely to say declining. Clear link.
Improving data management is number one opportunity – also integrating tech solutions, multi channel comms, small orgs more likely to say working with partners.
Not such a clear link between size and digital maturity anymore.
